Are you looking for a future-proof apprenticeship that offers exciting tasks both on site and in training?
The RWE Engineering Technician Apprenticeship provides a fantastic opportunity to enter the world of power generation engineering, earn while learning to become an Operations & Maintenance Technician (O&M) for today and tomorrow.
Our programme offers a structured combination of academic learning, technical training and practical skills development, supported by experienced engineers, technicians and training specialists.

All apprentices of the RWE Generation UK Engineering Technician Apprenticeship will study a programme of blended learning. All apprentices will be expected to study at APPRIS Charity, with some hands on experience at one of our UK Generation Power Stations.

Appris Charity is a not-for-profit, registered charity. Established in 1967 as a Group Training Association (GTA) that continues to be governed by engineering employers and professionals to this day. The heart of Appris’ business is apprenticeships, specialising in the delivery of apprenticeship standards that meet the needs of the region’s strategic objectives and skills agenda. With over 200 member companies and 500+ apprentices across West Yorkshire, Appris is the provider of choice for the engineering industry.

Apprentices will be based at one of our power stations across the UK for the duration of their training. Possible locations include Didcot, Staythorpe, Little Barford, Great Yarmouth, Pembroke and Markinch.
These sites provide hands-on experience in modern power generation environments, allowing apprentices to apply their growing technical skills directly within our operational fleet.

Entry Programme Coordinator, UK Technical Training Academy
Recruitment will start in January / early February 2027.
The apprenticeship will be published on our job board. Simply select the apprenticeship you’re interested in and click ‘Apply’ to fill in your details and upload your CV and cover letter. The detailed timeline will be communicated in due course.
If you’re successful in the initial stage, you’ll receive a phone call inviting you to take part in an assessment centre, which will take place at the end of April or early May. By this time, all applicants will have been informed whether they were successful in moving forward.
Medical examination is a requirement for most apprenticeship programmes at RWE. This means that our company doctors will carry out a series of medical checks to determine whether you are medically fit for your chosen apprenticeship. The timing of this examination depends on the specific apprenticeship or dual study programme – it may take place during the application process or shortly before the start of the training programme.
In June, successful candidates will be contacted to confirm that they have been selected for the role. You’ll then receive your apprenticeship contract and information about your start date.
