All apprentices of the RWE Renewables UK Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship will study a programme of blended learning, years one and two all apprentices will be expected to study at either Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl or IPS International, Rochester, with some hands on experience at one of our offshore wind farm locations. For the third year all apprentices will be based fulltime at one of our wind farm locations.

RWE first established a relationship with Coleg Llandrillo in 2005 when the earliest wind farms in North Wales were constructed.
It was our local college of choice for our wind turbine apprenticeship training programme, where over 100 apprentices have successfully been trained. Coleg Llandrillo have recently opened a state of the art engineering centre with dedicated wind turbine training facilities.

RWE partners with IPS International, an independent technical training provider based in Rochester, Kent. IPS offers high-quality engineering and maintenance training through small-group, hands-on instruction.
Apprentices attending IPS International complete their academic qualification - the Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Diploma in a modern, industry-focused learning environment.

Recruitment will start in January / early February 2026.
The apprenticeship will be published on our job board. Simply select the apprenticeship you’re interested in and click ‘Apply’ to fill in your details and upload your CV and cover letter. The detailed timeline will be communicated in due course.
If you’re successful in the initial stage, you’ll receive a phone call inviting you to take part in an assessment centre, which will take place at the end of April or early May. By this time, all applicants will have been informed whether they were successful in moving forward.
Medical examination is a requirement for most apprenticeship programmes at RWE. This means that our company doctors will carry out a series of medical checks to determine whether you are medically fit for your chosen apprenticeship. The timing of this examination depends on the specific apprenticeship or dual study programme – it may take place during the application process or shortly before the start of the training programme.
In June, successful candidates will be contacted to confirm that they have been selected for the role. You’ll then receive your apprenticeship contract and information about your start date.
