We’ve created this zone to provide useful information whether you're a parent, carer, teacher or careers advisor to help demystify some of the misconceptions behind apprenticeship programmes.

At RWE, we undestand your role is important in helping people to make the right choices about their future. We want to make sure that we are supporting you to feel informed and confident in providing career support and guidance, so that ultimately you can help make the best decisions for them.

Although university may seem like an obvious choice, an apprenticeship can offer just as many opportunities. Do you see you’re your students/child sitting in a lecture and continuing in academia to learn theory? Or would they prefer a practical education, where they can directly gain work experience in the commercial or technical field?

What are the choices for my child/student at 16 or 18?

There are so many choices, including:

At 16...

Continuing with full time education at school or college in the form of A Levels or Vocational Qualifications
The new ‘T Level’, which is a two year Level 3 qualification equivalent to 3 x A Levels

At 16 or 18...

An Apprenticeship or traineeship
Part time education or training

Gaining more qualifications after 16 or 18 is a sensible idea, as it usually means more job choices and improved employability. If your child has a particular career in mind, then an apprenticeship could be worth considering. Apprenticeships give fantastic experience of the working world. An opportunity to:

Gain real practical work experience and an insight into an industry
Gain industry-recognised qualifications and improve your skills

Get paid to learn, you finish without debt
Benefit from ongoing support systems and learning aids

If your child has already secured an offer of employment or an apprenticeship on their expected or predicted results, it’s also a good idea to confirm this place with the employer once they have received their results. Whether or not your child gets the grades needed, it’s always important to keep the potential employer fully informed of developments.

Why an apprenticeship at RWE?

This requires good training, and your students/child will get it at RWE. From an early stage, your students/child can contribute their own ideas in various areas. Right from the start of their training, your students/child will be challenged and encouraged to play their part in ensuring a secure energy supply.
Who would be eligible for an apprenticeship at RWE?
Whether they are technically or commercially inclined. With our wide range of apprenticeships, there is something for everyone.

The prerequisites vary depending on the apprenticeship. Your students can start with us with a minimum or 4 GCSEs A-C in English and maths or equivalent.

What support do your students receive?

We provide all apprentices with the best possible support! What this can look like and what advantages and offers an apprenticeship at RWE can bring your student/child depends on the respective apprenticeship occupation and location, but you can be sure that RWE as a Group not only offers its apprentices many advantages.
