RWE is committed to being a 'good neighbour' to the communities in which we operate. This is because developing, building, operating and maintaining a renewable energy project is a long-term commitment to an area.

    Area of benefit The fund benefits the areas of Llanllwni, Llanfihangel Rhos-y-Corn, Llanegwad, Llanegwad, Abergwili, Llanllawddog, Llanpumsaint, Llanfihangel-ar-Arth and Llanfihangel-ar-Arth.

    Fund set up

    An extensive consultation was held for the fund in 2018, where a survey was made available giving local residents providing an opportunity to have their say on how the fund will operate.  A summary of the results is available in English and Welsh:

    CVSC were appointed as fund administrators following an open tender process.

    CVSC  is a local charity with extensive grant making experience and a proven track record of supporting local communities. They have appointed a full time Fund Manager and completed recruitment of a decision making panel of local people. The panel will play a critical role in finalising the criteria and structure of the fund, making decisions about funding applications and shaping the future direction of the fund.

    How can I apply?

    The fund was opened early in March 2020 in response to COVID 19 for urgent applications, to help provide funding quickly for groups providing frontline support.

    The main fund is now open for applications from community groups.

    Fund Administration

    The Community Fund has been awarded to Swansea Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS). Decisions on the allocation of funds are taken by a grants panel made up of local people.

    With a membership of over 250 local organisations, SCVS is the umbrella body for the third sector in Swansea. SCVS offers advice, guidance, information, development, training and representation services on all issues linked with voluntary activity.

    The current area of benefit incldes the following council areas - Llangyfelach, Pontlliw and Tircoed, Pontarddulais, Mawr, Penllergaer, Clydach and Morriston.
