RWE, a leading renewable energy company, is thrilled to announce the presentation of the first-ever 'Future Bright' award, a hallmark of excellence in community development. This prestigious award, introduced as part of RWE's Future Bright programme, recognises outstanding projects that received funding from community benefit funds and that are making a tangible difference in local communities across the UK.

The 'Future Bright' recognition award is a testament to RWE's commitment to supporting community development through its community benefit funds. These funds, established alongside RWE's renewable energy projects, empower local communities to implement life-changing initiatives that promote social inclusion and economic prosperity.

The inaugural 'Future Bright' recognition award is presented to Abergele Community Action, a local charity dedicated to delivering sustainable projects that enhance the lives of individuals and families in the community. Through their tireless efforts, Abergele Community Action has demonstrated innovation and excellence in fostering social and economic inclusion, providing vital support to improve physical and emotional well-being.

Katy Woodington, RWE Community Investment Manager "We are honoured to present the first 'Future Bright' recognition award to Abergele Community Action in acknowledgement of their remarkable contributions to community development. Their commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening community ties is truly inspiring, and we commend their dedication to making a positive impact."

The award event, held as part of the Future Bright programme, brought together stakeholders, volunteers, and community members to celebrate Abergele Community Action's achievements. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with charity staff and volunteers, interact with beneficiaries, and witness the official handing over of the award by MS for Clwyd West Darren Millar.

"We are thrilled to be recognised by the 'Future Bright' programme and grateful for the support of fund administrators CVSC and RWE in our mission to create positive change in our community," said Linda Tavernor, Principal Strategic Manager Abergele Community Action. "This award serves as a testament to the dedication of our team and the impact of our projects on the lives of those we serve."

Abergele Community Action received the funding from fund administrators CVSC through the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund and the Rhyl Flats Community fund.

MS for Clwyd West Mr Darren Millar, who attended the event and gave the award added, “Linda and the team at Abergele Community Action work extremely hard on behalf of the local community. I am delighted that they have received the first ‘Future Bright’ recognition award which is thoroughly deserved.”

Through the Future Bright programme, RWE shines a spotlight on the transformative impact of community benefit funds, showcasing the positive outcomes achieved through collaborative partnerships. With over £38 million already invested and a projected total investment of over £100 million over the lifetime of the renewable energy projects we operate, RWE's commitment to enriching communities and supporting essential services is unwavering.

Community Benefit funds provided by renewable energy projects operated by RWE are managed directly by local independent organisations with funding decisions made by panels of local people who understand their communities best. The funding processes are designed to be flexible and easily accessible, allowing communities to drive their own development initiatives.

Innovative projects funded by RWE's community funds encompass a wide range of initiatives, from energy-efficient community facilities to activities that bring communities together. These projects have had a lasting impact on improving health, wellbeing, and environmental sustainability, contributing to a brighter future for all.
