RWE is celebrating a triple win at the 2025 Humber Renewables Awards, reaffirming its role as a cornerstone of the UK’s clean energy future. This year’s 13th edition of the awards recognised RWE’s standout contributions in skills development, community action, and emergency response, reflecting the company’s commitment to the Humber region.
RWE is the UK’s leading power generator and currently operates 10 offshore wind farms across the UK, with an additional nine in development. These projects include the Dogger Bank South developments, the Sofia offshore wind farm, the operational Humber Gateway, and the Grimsby Hub, RWE’s flagship Operations and Maintenance base.
This year’s Humber Renewables Award for Apprentice of the Year was awarded to Aurelia Pearson, Health, Safety and Environmental Apprentice at Grimsby Hub. She was recognised for her dedication to environmental improvements and local volunteering, making her a standout talent in the sector.
“I feel over the moon with excitement to have been awarded the Humber Renewables Apprentice of the Year Award 2025,” said Aurelia Pearson. “I feel incredibly lucky to be exposed to such fantastic opportunities within the Humber region and attend an event filled with so much inspiring innovation. I couldn’t have done it without both the Grimsby Hub team and the RWE HSE team—I am grateful for their continued guidance and support.”
RWE was awarded the Renewables Skills and Training Award, recognising the company’s dynamic approach to workforce development, including impactful partnerships such as with the Armed Forces, furthering excellence in training and skills for the renewable energy industry.
A Special Recognition Award was given to the Grimsby Offshore Wind Cluster for bravery and quick response during the North Sea vessel collision on 10 March 2025. RWE colleagues at Humber Gateway helped rescue 36 crew members with professionalism and compassion.
Nathan Kerins, General Manager at Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm commented, ”RWE Humber Gateway are proud to be recognised alongside our vessel contractor Windcat Workboats for the roles played in the rescue effort. Our teams showed great courage and selflessness, putting the wellbeing of the stranded crew above all else.”
Corrine Barry, East Coast Director – Net Zero, added, “Through investment in people, partnerships and places, we are helping drive the UK’s path to net zero from the Humber.”
In addition to the wins, RWE was proud to see several finalists recognised across categories: Dogger Bank South (DBS) in Renewables Education, Humber Gateway for its Bee Hives community project, and Madeleine Warburton for Apprentice of the Year.
These recognitions reinforce RWE’s enduring commitment to the Humber and its role in shaping a sustainable, secure energy system for the UK.
