Pembroke Power Station team raises over £10,000 for Royal National Lifeboat Institution through a year of fundraising

RWE’s Pembroke Power Station has raised £10,105.40 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) over the past year, following a series of fundraising activities organised by employees in support of the station’s 2025 charity of the year.

Each year, Pembroke Power Station staff nominate a local charity to support. Over the past year, employees selected the RNLI, reflecting the station’s strong connection to the surrounding coastline and maritime community.

Located on the Pembrokeshire coastline, Pembroke Power Station is one of the largest and most efficient gas-fired power stations in the UK. The combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant plays a key role in supporting the UK’s electricity system, providing flexible and reliable power to complement renewable generation. With strong ties to the local community and coastline, the station’s workforce shares a close connection to the waters where RNLI crews carry out their lifesaving work.

Throughout the year, employees organised and supported a range of initiatives, including cake sales, raffles, team quizzes, and the station’s first Charity Golf Day. These activities brought colleagues together while raising vital funds to support the RNLI’s mission to save lives at sea.

From organising golf days, raffles, and competitions, to coming up with new and creative ways to raise funds, the team never stops finding ways to support great causes. The amount raised this year has been exceptional, and I want to thank everyone for their energy, generosity and commitment.”

Every pound raised helps us continue our lifesaving service, ensuring that local communities and visitors to Pembrokeshire can enjoy the coastline knowing our volunteer crews are ready to respond 24/7, 365 days a year.”
The fundraising programme concluded with a visit to Tenby Lifeboat Station, where representatives from Pembroke Power Station presented the cheque to RNLI volunteers. The visit offered an opportunity to see first-hand how the funds raised will support the charity’s operations and volunteers.

The initiative reflects Pembroke Power Station’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and charities, alongside its role in delivering secure, flexible and increasingly low-carbon energy for the UK.
