More than 160 participants came together at South Pembrokeshire Golf Club in September as the Pembroke Power Station Charity Golf Day raised more than £6,000 for Sarcoma UK.

Organised by the Pembroke Power Station Golf Society, the event brought together employees, contractors, suppliers and local partners for a day of fundraising, friendly competition and community spirit, with all proceeds supporting the station's Charity of the Year.

The charity day reflects a wider commitment from colleagues at Pembroke Power Station to support causes important to local communities and the workforce. Throughout the year, employees volunteer their time and raise funds for a range of charities through events, workplace initiatives and safety awareness activities, helping to support organisations both locally and nationally.

Operated by RWE, Pembroke Power Station is one of the UK's largest and most efficient gas-fired power stations, capable of generating more than 2GW of flexible electricity, enough to help power millions of homes and businesses when they need it most.

Representatives from Sarcoma UK attended the event and shared stories about the impact of the charity's work supporting people affected by sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

"It was wonderful to join Pembroke Power Station for their golf day in aid of Sarcoma UK and meet supporters of our charity," said Greis Kula, Partnerships & Events Manager at Sarcoma UK.

"Events like this are so important to us, not just for the funds raised but for the awareness they generate. Sarcoma is a rare cancer that many people have never heard of until they or someone they love is diagnosed. Every pound raised through events like this helps Sarcoma UK fund research into better treatments and earlier diagnosis, while ensuring those affected by sarcoma have access to the support and information they need."

Roland Long, Asset Manager at Pembroke Power Station, said: "It was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of such an important cause. As well as generating electricity for the UK, we're proud to play a positive role in the communities around us. Supporting charities and good causes is something our team is passionate about, and this event is a great example of what can be achieved when colleagues, partners and the local community come together."

As part of RWE's UK generation fleet, Pembroke Power Station supports the delivery of secure and reliable electricity while also encouraging employees to make a positive difference in the communities where they live and work. The charity golf day is one of a number of initiatives through which colleagues raise funds and awareness for causes close to their hearts.
