Yesterday’s announcements can help avoid additional costs through linking ETSs, reduce consumer costs in the long-run, and unlock investment in new cross-border opportunities.

Tom Glover commented

“RWE strongly welcomes the announcement on closer energy cooperation between the UK and EU, including today’s announcement to enter into negotiations on linking the respective emissions trading systems. More efficient electricity trading arrangements can help reduce consumer costs in the long-run, whilst greater cooperation in areas like clean energy technology and opportunities in the North Sea, such as cross border CO2 storage, can help maximise investment opportunities and future jobs for oil and gas workers in the energy sector.”
