Five Estuaries

Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm is being developed as an extension to the existing Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, also operated by RWE.

Covering 128km2 across two seabed areas, the wind farm would be located 37km offshore at its closest point to Suffolk and make landfall in Tendring, Essex at Sandy Point between Frinton-on-Sea and Holland-on-Sea before connecting to the National Grid near Little Bromley, Essex.

The Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm application was accepted for examination by The Planning Inspectorate on 22 April 2024. 
The project is currently in the examination phase. You can view the examination programme, all application documents and register to be kept up to date throughout the examination process here.

RWE is leading the development of the project. Five Estuaries’ project partners are RWE (33.33%), a Macquarie-led consortium (25%), ESB (20.83%) and Sumitomo Corporation (20.83%).
