Five Estuaries

Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm is being developed as an extension to the existing Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, also operated by RWE.

Covering 128km2 across two seabed areas, the wind farm would be located 37km offshore at its closest point to Suffolk and make landfall in Tendring, Essex between Frinton-on-Sea and Holland-on-Sea before connecting to the National Grid near Little Bromley, Essex.

Five Estuaries Stage 2 (Statutory) Consultation finished on 12 May 2023. The Project is currently considering consultation responses and preparing final proposals ahead of submitting an application for a Development Consent Order, anticipated to be by the end of 2023.

RWE is leading the development of the project. Five Estuaries’ project partners are RWE (25%), a Macquarie-led consortium (25%), Siemens’ financing arm, Siemens Financial Services (25%), ESB (12.5%) and Sumitomo Corporation (12.5%).
