Project history

In March 2020 RWE held public exhibitions for Stemster windfarm to show our initial design for the project. RWE continues to work on the feasibility of this project and continue to work on the design on the project. A further update will follow in due course.

Site location

The proposed Stemster Wind Farm is located approximately 6 km north of Latheron in Caithness, Scotland.

The site has been selected for development because of the following attributes:

  • High wind speeds
  • Capacity to locate turbines more than 2km from a settlement
  • Capacity to locate turbines more than 750m from the nearest residential properties
