In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week 2026, RWE, the UK’s leading power generator and a major force in the energy transition, is proud to launch its 2026 Apprenticeship Programme. This year’s initiative will offer 31 new apprenticeship opportunities across key parts of the business, reflecting RWE’s commitment to developing skilled talent and flexible career pathways in a changing energy landscape.
In total RWE currently has 85 apprentices across its UK businesses (19 RWEG, 5 RWEST, 61 offshore wind). The 2026 programme includes:
These opportunities build on RWE’s longstanding commitment to apprenticeships as a springboard to lifelong careers, and the growing need for flexible career routes across energy sectors. Whether candidates are just entering the workforce or considering a career pivot, apprenticeships at RWE offer on-the-job experience, structured learning and a chance to contribute immediately to operations spanning renewable generation, flexible gas power and trading environments. Flexible gas roles in particular showcase how traditional energy skills are evolving alongside new technologies and markets, offering dynamic career options for apprentices interested in engineering and operations within power generation.
Tom Glover, RWE UK Country Chair, said: “Apprentices are at the heart of our mission to power the UK’s future with secure, sustainable and flexible energy. Over the past decade, we’ve seen apprentices grow into critical roles across our business – and it’s clear there has never been a more exciting time to join the energy sector. These programmes provide meaningful pathways into careers that adapt with the industry, whether in offshore wind, engineering, flexible gas power or commercial operations.”
Recently graduated from her Offshore Wind Turbine apprenticeship is Madeleine Warburton, she explains more about her experience: “My apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to develop specialist skills offshore and apply what I learned at college in a real-world environment. From working on wind turbines to gaining experience at a gas power station, I’ve built a broader understanding of how different technologies fit together, and I’m excited to keep learning and developing my career with RWE.”
Katarina Nikolic, O&M Engineering Technician Apprentice, is in the third year of her apprenticeship and recently secured a role at Little Barford Power Station: “My apprenticeship has given me hands-on experience, confidence and a strong foundation in mechanical engineering. I’m proud to be progressing into an Operations Technician role, where I can build on the skills I’ve developed while continuing to learn and grow within the energy sector.”
RWE’s 2026 apprenticeship schemes are designed to give participants a blend of practical experience, academic training and mentorship, preparing them for technical and professional roles in a competitive energy market. Apprentices will be supported throughout their training journey, with access to experienced colleagues and development opportunities to help them shape a personalised, flexible career path.
Applications for the 2026 apprenticeships are open; for more information visit RWE’s Apprenticeship hub for role descriptions, eligibility criteria, and application details.
RWE is one of the UK’s largest power generators, with a diverse portfolio that spans offshore and onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage, hydro and gas-fired generation. Through its apprenticeships and early careers programmes, RWE is investing in the workforce of tomorrow, equipping individuals with the skills to deliver a secure, sustainable energy system.
