RWE is celebrating a standout evening at the Humber Renewables Awards, securing five prestigious accolades that recognise its leadership in clean energy, skills development, community impact and safety across the Humber region.
The awards, held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hull following the Offshore Wind Connections Conference, highlight RWE’s growing role in delivering the UK’s energy transition.
Among the honours, Alicia Doughty was named Apprentice of the Year for the third consecutive year an RWE apprentice has taken the title. Alicia was recognised for her exceptional progression, resilience and commitment, having quickly established herself as a trusted offshore technician. From starting her offshore career during severe weather conditions to demonstrating strong safety awareness and technical capability, she has become a valued member of the team.
Commenting on the award, Alicia said, “Winning Apprentice of the Year is a proud moment. It reflects the incredible support I’ve had from the team and the opportunities to develop and grow in such an exciting industry.”
RWE’s flagship Sofia Offshore Wind Farm was named Renewable Energy Project of the Year, recognising its scale, innovation and impact. The 1.4GW project will generate enough clean electricity to power around 1.2 million UK homes and is setting new benchmarks in engineering, sustainability, and regional collaboration.
Sofia Project Director Jonathan Grigg commented, ”2025 was a year of achievements on the Sofia project, and we’re now closing in on the final milestones. We’re delighted with this award, which is a credit to everybody involved with the project to date.”
RWE was also named Offshore Wind Company of the Year, reflecting major milestones including the launch of its Grimsby Hub and Centralised Control Room, continued progress on Sofia, and Contracts for Difference secured for the 3GW Dogger Bank South projects.
Danielle Lane, Head of RWE Offshore development in the UK, “These awards reflect the strength of our long-term commitment to the Humber and our role in delivering world-class offshore wind projects.”

RWE is the UK’s leading power generator and currently operates 10 offshore wind farms, with a further nine in development. These include the Dogger Bank South developments, Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, Humber Gateway and the Grimsby Hub—RWE’s flagship operations and maintenance base.
