RWE’s proposed Gaerwen Wind Farm site is located south-west of Corwen and north-east of Bala. The proposed development straddles the boundary between Denbighshire County Council and Cyngor Gwynedd.
Since 2020, we’ve carried out assessments at the site, held discussions with interested parties, conducted an informal public consultation and gathered a huge amount of valuable information.
RWE’s proposed Gaerwen Wind Farm has a planned capacity of up to 59 MW. If approved this will include nine turbines, two with a tip height of up to 200m and seven of up to 180m, battery storage potential is also being explored. Depending on the final turbine selected, the potential electricity generated would be the equivalent to the needs of up to 48,000* homes in Wales.
Over the period 10 July 2024 to 4 September 2024 we undertook the statutory Pre-application Consultation (PAC) required as part of the Development of National Significance (DNS) planning process.
