Project Information

The 15 turbine site is located in East Ayrshire near to the village of New Cumnock. This project is close to our other developments in the area, including Lorg. When built, it will be capable of producing up to 70MW of electricity.

Since launching its proposals, RWE has worked closely with the community and undertaken extensive consultation to understand local concerns. RWE will continue to liaise with them via the Community Liaison Group for the next stage of this project.

Please contact Dean Guy to express an interest in joining the group.

Latest Information

April 2026

Construction works was largely completed July 2025 with only minor civil & electrical works and commissioning of the wind turbines remaining.

This wind farm was expected to connect to the national grid 31/10/25 but the connection was delayed until February 2026 and again until April 2026.

The wind farm was finally connected to the grid 16/04/26 allowing the project to progress with final commissioning and testing to the wind turbines.

RWE expect construction to be fully complete end of May 2026.

As always, if you have any questions related to construction works, please contact Dean Guy, Construction Project Manager.

Community Liaison Group (CLG)

We have set up a Community Liaison Group which will allow open dialogue between members of the RWE/ Farrans construction team and representatives of the community. As the project progresses through construction, RWE is keen to receive feedback directly from the community and as such a CLG provides a useful pathway for that information. The community representatives can be found on the meeting minutes.

If you are interested in joining the group, please contact the RWE team for more information.

The 8th CLG meeting took place on 11th February 2026 and the next meeting will take place 28th April 2026.

Community Benefit

RWE is committed to supporting the communities that neighbour our wind farms. In 2025 alone we invested more than £5.7 million into the communities that surround our renewable energy projects.

Enoch Hill Wind Farm, once operational, will bring with it an annual community fund worth £350,000 per year, index linked, for the operational lifetime of the wind farm.

  • We have a strong track record of engaging local communities in the process of deciding how each fund should be structured and administered. In the autumn/winter of 2024/2025 RWE undertook a consultation to give local people the opportunity to share their views and to shape the community fund associated with Enoch Hill Wind Farm. To read a summary of the feedback RWE received, please click here.

  • After careful consideration, and in line with the extensive and valuable feedback we received through our consultation, RWE has appointed Foundation Scotland to support the delivery of the fund during its initial phase.

Foundation Scotland is one of Scotland’s leading independent community grant makers and currently supports the delivery of more than £13 million of renewable energy community funding each year. They bring extensive experience of establishing impactful and locally focused community panels, and ensuring funding is delivered transparently and effectively.

A key priority highlighted during consultation was that those living closest to the development should benefit most in the early years. As a result, the fund will initially focus on the host community of New Cumnock during the first five years of operation.

Following this period, the structure and delivery of the fund will then be reviewed which could include considering if the next phase of funding should be delivered over a wider area.

Funding decisions will be made by a local community panel, made up of people who live, work or volunteer in New Cumnock and who bring a range of skills, experience and local knowledge. Foundation Scotland will provide independent professional support to ensure the process operates effectively and transparently.

  • The first payment from the Enoch Hill Wind Farm Fund will be made available when the wind farm is fully operational, currently anticipated to be the end of April 2026. Once the administration arrangements have been finalised, and the fund launch timeline is confirmed, RWE will publish details here.
